Steal a Tart - Alice in Wonderland White Rabbit Painting, Illustration on hand sculpted Clay. Presented on cradled Birch Panel
Only 1 left in stock

I sculpted and formed a panel and its borders with polymer clay. I then painted and stained the clay with the rabbit from Chapter 11 of Alice in Wonderland. The rabbit is taken from one of the great John Tenniel's illustrations. (Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=629714) I also added a little metal charm in place of his watch. The whole piece is then securely mounted on a Birch cradled panel. Next the edges and top are all sealed and then sealed again and then again.
In the book, the poem the Rabbit announces from the scroll is:
"The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
All on a summer day:
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts,
And took them, quite away!
"The clay gives it a really nice structure, texture and lots of whimsy! This was so much fun to do! I hope you enjoy it.
The panel measures 5 " x 5 " x 1 " but with the clay it is slightly larger and about 1 1/4 inches thick. Since the panel is cradled it is ready to hang right on the wall. I initialed the bottom corner of the painting and it will be stamped and signed on the back.
I do not have a formula for these creations. I start with a mood and let the creation take shape. The process makes each piece truly unique and one of a kind. Baked in many stages and finished with a sealant. All materials are archival, professional grade. Durable and resilient and easy to clean if necessary!
I have been working in a new medium and I am loving the colors and textures.
Made with polymer clay and painted and embellished with many different mediums including pastels, paint, alcohol inks and markers.
Colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings.
This is an art object, not meant to be a children's toy.
