Make your home your own!  "What have you got to say for yourself?» Now don't interrupt me!"

I decided to break out the black and white clay.  Fun and whimsical; a touch of Wonderland, actually "Through the Looking Glass".   Another one of my, "Peace Plates" Sculpted and carved with texture. This is sculpted and then illustrated with inks and pens.  Embellished with glazes of color.

I started this piece by forming and building black and white clay carefully mounted on a wooden light switch plate.  I then transferred one of John Tenniel's illustrations onto the clay.  Next came the embellishments and some artistic license with india inks, alcohol inks and other paints.  This image is from Chapter I of Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll.   The scene is taken from one of the great John Tenniel's illustrations. (By John Tenniel - http://www.alice-in-wonderland.net/wp-content/uploads/2book2.jpg, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=14642615)

"...you little mischievous darling! What have you got to say for yourself? Now don't interrupt me!" she went on, holding up one finger. "I'm going to tell you all your faults. Number one: you squeaked twice while Dinah was washing your face this morning. Now you can't deny it, Kitty: I heard you! What's that you say?" (pretending that the kitten was speaking.) "Her paw went into your eye? ." (Chapter I)

The clay gives it a really nice structure, texture and lots of whimsy!  This was so much fun to do! I hope you enjoy it.

This is hand sculpted polymer clay that is mounted on a mid size wall plate.

Final step includes sealing for added durability.  The clay and painting are mounted on a substrate constructed of real, solid alder wood with a metal back plate.   I am very careful to reinforce these during the process which involves a lot of 'baking in' the layers in stages.  Lots of texture, drifts of color and eye interest.  The polymer clay due to its make up is resilient and durable.  Finished with sealants to keep the colors true and protect from scratches.

Easy to install, you just need to remove your current plate and pop this one on and replace the two screws.  (screws included)

These plates are mid-size which are slightly larger than a standard so that any paint difference left on your wall from your old plate should be covered (might not apply if you have an extremely large plate currently).

This plate measures: (Due to texture these are approximate but very close)

Height: 6 inches

Width: 3 1/2 inches

Depth : 1/2 inch

To clean can be wiped down with a dry or damp cloth just don't agressively scrub or use high abrasives.

These are packed in a pretty gift box made of recyclable material and shipped FREE within the US by Priority Mail.  You will receive a tracking #.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoy making them.  Thanks for supporting independent artists!
